LIFE STORY

HERBERT C VAUGHN age 84, predeceased by his wife Hattie Vaughn and son of the late Eliza Sinkler, and Lennie Vaughn, Sr. born June 24,1942, in Sumter, South Carolina. He departed thislife on Sunday June 19, 2026, at Trinitas Hospital located in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

Herbert graduated from Eastern High School in Sumpter, South Carolina. Later, he moved to New Jersey and met the love of his life Hattie Vaughn and married over 60 years. From this beautiful union, they had one child Ti-Tarold Vaughn. He resided in Roselle, New Jersey, for over 50 years. He worked as a Depot Master for New Jersey Transit for over 40+ years.

Herbert was a dedicated and loyal member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years. He became the Church Financial Secretary, a member of the Trustee Board, and sang with the male Choir.

Herbert’s hobbies consisted of gardening/farming, sneaking offto Atlantic City for enjoyment, bowling, music, dancing, playing card games, along with hanging out with family and friends. He loved fixing things himself just to save money, especially on his house and cars. He would call on his son Ti and his friends to assist him even though they didn’t want to. His friends would avoid coming past his house because it was chance they might be put to work. One of his most favorite things to do was eating and feeding others.

Herbert is predeceased by; parents Eliza Sinkler and Lennie Vaughn Sr. Siblings; Mary McLeod, Elizabeth Rembert(Herman Rembert), Lillie Mae Miller (Nathaniel Miller) and one brother Lennie Vaughn, Jr., sister-in-law Lottie Pitts, and brothers-in-law Herbert Haynesworth and Willie Mosesd.

Loving memories of Herbert will be cherished by sister Viola Moses, sister-in-law Martha Vaughn, brother-in-law Ervin Pitts, Son Richie Levarn Hickmon (Jennifer Elizabeth Hickmon), and Daughter in-law Sharon Vaughn. Grandchildren Ti-Esha Williams Vaughn, Ti-Reece Vaughn (Asia Vaughn), and Tiffany Hatcher. Great grandchildren Landon & Tihler Newkirk, Timothy & Ronald, Jr. Hatcher and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and the entire Bethlehem Church family.
