Patricia Ann Duffie: aka "Sister Capers" Patricia, was born on April 16th 1954, and received her wings on January 21st 2026.
Patricia Ann Duffie was affectionately known by those who knew. her as "Pat" Patricia transitioned on January 21st 2026, at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. She was a devoted christian, and a loving Mother. A Woman of quiet strength and sharp wit. "Pat" as she was called, was very spirited, and out spoken known for speaking her mind, and telling it like it is.
Born on April the 16th 1954, in Jersey City, NJ. Patricia was the oldest child of 3. The beloved daughter of Benjamin Duffie Sr., and Clarice Duffie. She was the oldest child and only girl of {Benjamin Duffie Sr. and Clarice Duffie} followed by Benjamin Duffie Jr., and Kenneth Duffie. As the oldest child she was often tasked with cooking, cleaning, and helping out around the house.
She possessed a natural sense of humor, often catching people guard with a clever response delivered in perfect timing. One thing for sure, her quick tongue was always honest, and often memorable.
Pat was raised in Newark, NJ; Where she attended local school's and graduated from Barringer High School. She later studied Administration at Essex County College, then went on to serve her community through hard work and determination; Working for Newark Public School System as a school crossing guard. She always had a genuine love for children, and cared a lot about their quality of education.Pat also worked as a child care provider for many years; offering care and providing structure with compassion to many young lives.
Faith was the foundation of Pat's life. As a child she attended Miracle Temple Church of Newark, under the leadership of Elder Plumley, and Reverend Shambach; Where she joyfully led songs in the youth choir. In her later years, she became a faithful member of Faith Temple #1 OFW Baptist Church of East Orange, NJ. Where she found fellowship, strength, and peace in GOD's presence.
Pat cherished the word of God, and lived according to it's truth. Her favorite scripture was John 15:13 "Greater Love hath no man, than this, that a man should lay down his life for his friend". Which reflected the depth of her love, loyalty, and character.
She was blessed with lifelong friendships, especially her best friends. Joyce Roberts, and Shirley Flemmings, who shared years of laughter, memories and unwavering support.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, {Benjamin Duffie Sr., and Clarice Duffie}, and her youngest brother Kenneth Duffie.
She leaves behind her beloved Son:{Malik B. Duffie}Her Brother: {Benjamin Duffie Jr.} Her Nephews: {Nysir St. Leger, JahMei Marshall, and Ashten Johnson, Her Nieces: {Kenisha Duffie, Mercedes Duffie, Senia Marshall, and TaVior Marshall} Along with a host of family members and dear friends.
Pat's life was marked by faith, sincerity and love. Her presence brought comfort, her laughter brought joy, and her words , often quick yet well-timed left lasting impressions.
Today, we take comfort in knowing she is at peace, reunited with loved ones, and resting securely in God's eternal care. Her last words before she transitioned was: "It's in Jesus Hands", "God is in Control" and "God has the last say" This was the last thing that she said to her son before transitioning; And we trust that she is in God's hands resting in his care.
