In Loving Memory of Pearl McNeal
Pearl McNeal, 91, of Rahway, NJ transitioned from this life Thursday, January 15, 2026, at JFK University Medical Center surrounded by loved ones. Born on June 11, 1934, in Pineland, South Carolina, Pearl was the daughter of the late Celie Tucker. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grand mother, aunt and friend – a true family woman who’s hardworking and helping spirit blessed everyone she knew.
Pearl spent her formative years in Pineland, SC where shelearned her strong work ethic helping her grandfather maintainthe family farm while she attended River Hill Community School. In the early 1960’s she moved to Elizabeth, NJ, arriving on a Tuesday and meeting her husband of 50 years on that Thursday, James R. McNeal, Sr. “Jimmy.” Their marriage provided a beautiful example of love, patience, commitment, and family.
Pearl was predeceased by her husband, James R. McNeal Sr., sisters, Inez Moore and Glady Simpkins, granddaughter Debra Diane Wilson, great-grandson Michael D. Wiggins, and great-great grandson Elijah Powell. Her legacy lives on through her son, Henry Capers and spouse, daughter, Shirley Beckford, son,Edward Capers and spouse, daughter, Linda Hall, daughter, Penny Newman, and son, James R. McNeal, Jr., and spouse, 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren, extended family, and friends.
For all that knew Pearl, there was nothing more special to her than the family. The birthday parties, backyard barbecues, family celebrations, or even the simple act of the family dancing and singing to music always brought the biggest smile to her face. She truly believed in helping everyone, whether you asked for it or not. She will be missed beyond belief in this world, but it was time for the angel to get the wings she has earned.
Hebrews 6:10 NIV
God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.
