Richard Lewis Blackshear was born on August 21, 1947, to the Late Emma and Shelly Blackshear in Elizabeth, NJ and peacefully departed this life on May 12, 2024, at his residence.

Richard received his education from the Roselle Public School system and proudly graduated from Abraham Clark High School in 1965. Immediately after high school he found employment at Continental Can in Rahway, NJ and remained until retirement.

  Throughout his life, Richard Blackshear was not only focused on his career but also dedicated time to his personal interests. He was an avid exerciser and had a passion for cooking, delighting those around him with delicious meals.

 Richard was a longtime member of the Bibleway Deliverance Center Church of Roselle, NJ, where he worshiped under the leadership of Bishop Wayne L. Johnson. His faith was an essential aspect of his life and brought him solace and guidance.

 Richard was predeceased by his Parents, Emma & Shelly Blackshear. Sister's, Sherly & Doris Blackshear. Brother's, George & Ronald Blackshear and niece, Sharonda Blackshear.

Richard will be dearly missed by his son, Richard Lamonte Thomas (Karen), daughter's, Doreena Johnson, and Latasha Thomas, 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. While we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the joy and love he brought into the lives of those around him.
