Dearest friends and family, It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Tommie “Khas” Brown, who departed this life on May 13, 2025. Born on March 25, 1962 in Chinquapin, North Carolina, Tommie was the cherished son of Mary Brown and the late Lindsey Brown of Jacksonville, NC. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend whose presence touched many lives. Tommie received his education in Elizabeth, New Jersey, attending Lafayette Middle School and Elizabeth High School. He later became a well-loved resident of Drake Avenue and Garden Drive in Roselle, New Jersey, where he built lifelong friendships and a reputation as a kind and humorous neighbor. After high school, Tommie worked for many years as a machinist in Hillside, NJ. Later, he transitioned into customer service roles with Budget and ultimately with Enterprise, where he brought his characteristic warmth and work ethic. Known for his love of long solo drives, Tommie often traveled to visit family and friends across state lines. He had a deep appreciation for music and the beach, drawn to the water with a peaceful spirit. His passion for cars and rhythm was evident in throughout his years, when he loved to dance and often brought his baby brother Chuck along to nightclubs—especially their favorite, New Experience, lovingly remembered as Club Sensations. Tommie was a private man when it came to love, but he did have a few in his lifetime. His loyalty and quiet affection were known to those close to him. His heart was big, and his sense of humor unforgettable.
He’ll forever be known as Khas dream! He was preceded in death by his sisters Barbara Brown, Yolanda Denise Walton, Livie ‘Jean’ Matthews, and Jackie Smith; as well as his nephew Todd Matthews. Tommie leaves behind a legacy of love and treasured memories.
